the “news” in the UK

::: stepping on my soapbox… because I can::::

The US is dealing with this health care reform…. and alot of the people complaining are using the UK’s NHS as an example.  I’m a registered and daily reader of “Mail Online” which is a UK online news source.  They have an article today about how the NHS “saved” 15… fifteen… one five… people with 2 donor’s organs.   Maybe I misread the article all three times I read it but all I read was 5 people were saved…. and one wasn’t given a good chance.  He was given the diseased liver of a female that got part of a donor liver.

They have a comment section, as do most online news sources…. so I thought I’d add my 2 cents in.  I vented about people in advanced ages couldn’t get life saving procedures under the NHS AND the most important part (to me at least) how women under the age of 25 aren’t allowed pap smears unless they have symptoms of cancer.  Guess what happened??  Nothing……. they haven’t posted my comment.  Its been 2 hours since I submitted it.

I don’t agree with alot of what our government does…… but I voted so I have a right to voice my opinion.   I completely disagree with the US going to an organized health care system.

And since I’m venting ……… the UK has this “thing” called CCTV.  It’s camera’s placed all over the place that tape everyone and everything.  This could come in handy when a someone is missing or a crime is committed.  I hope if we take on the UK’s health system we don’t take on CCTV.  I’d hate to have my parents see me on the national news drunk in downtown New Orleans flashing for beads.

The point I’m trying to make (if you got this far in my vent) is…. if our government decides to take the UK approach on health care I hope it stops there.  The people in the UK have to deal with their government in their faces all the time…… no privacy even walking down the street.  I just see the health care “so called” reform as an opening for government to control our everyday lives more and more.
